| This
is a recent picture. I spent the night on this earthwork in 1972
for some reason. Next night I spent some hours alone in the centre
of Stonehenge itself. One could get away with that kind of stuff
in those days. |
| In
a small and brief way, I contributed to the ancient monument by
leaving a scatter-cushion sized flat stone
on top of the earthwork shown bottom left of picture, brought up
from Cornwall the previous summer. |
| When
I returned to retrieve it in 1976, I found that it had been used
as an altar - it was littered with hippie detritus:- candle remains,
roaches and joss-stick ends. A beaten path had been trampled around
it. |
